Guild Wars 2: Batter Up

The next slugger in the MMOG war is about to take the plate in less than three days (for players who pre-purchased, anyway) and it is one of the single most anticipated titles to hit the market since Star Wars: The Old Republic. Guild Wars 2 has seen as much hype and marketing as any MMOG out there. ArenaNet has billed it as a “living, breathing fantasy world” and a genre defining game – an action-oriented, personally customized game with dynamic world events.

Guild Wars was one of the few games I never got in to. And with as competitive as the MMOG field is now, I’ve sworn off buying games that I didn’t get to “play before I paid.” I never got the chance to play in any of the GW2 betas but from what I’ve seen from game streams and promotional video, the game seems to have a lot of promise. After proving their support for a game with the original GW, Funcom’s track record gives the game that much more promise.

With that said, I pre-purchased the game and will be planning on playing and streaming the game. If it sticks, you can plan on seeing a Guild Wars 2 section at Die by the Arrow. At the very least, you’ll get a review out of it!

I played GW for a while. I enjoyed it. Just might have to try it again. Look forward to seeing your reviews.
